Vin de Garde Trading is a new boutique wine importer and wholesaler and the sister company to one of Melbourne's longest-standing independent fine wine retailers - Armadale Cellars.
After more than 20 years in the wine merchant business, we bring Melbourne a collection of distinctive, family-owned producers from iconic terroirs – Beaujolais, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Chablis, Champagne, Chianti, Côtes du Rhône, Loire Valley, Provence as well as inclusions from Tuscany and Hawkes Bay - alongside our personally-selected, domestic négociant wines under Vin de Garde Trading.

ABOUT US
Vin de Garde Trading is a new Melbourne wholesaler, devised by wine professionals, Phil Hude and Philip Shorten, who share more than 50 years’ experience in the wine industry.
Phil Hude and Philip Shorten came up with the concept for Vin de Garde after seeing a gap in the market for a small-batch, high quality Wine Wholesaler with deep industry experience, a global knowledge of wine, an international network of winemakers and an idiosyncratic wine list driven by highly rated palates.
Vin de Garde brings this same passion for discovering and developing strong long-term partnerships with producers to working collaboratively with the Melbourne hospitality trade.
Our portfolio has been carefully selected over an extended period, engaging with independent winemakers all over the world to create a list of character, regionality, sustainability and, importantly, that we love to drink and represents the best value for money.

Phil Hude
Phil has been in the hospitality and wine industry for 37 years. In 1996 he completed his university wine marketing studies at Roseworthy before starting his small wine business, Armadale Cellars in 1997.
Phil’s wine knowledge and expertise has been accumulated over many years through regular trips to the New & Old world of wine. Phil has presented hundreds of tastings and winemaker's dinners and lent his wine expertise to numerous corporate speaking engagements and television and radio interviews. Further to this Phil is regularly involved in Wine Show judging and recently judged at the Melbourne International Wine Show.
Philip Shorten
After a decade in management consulting and having funded himself through his WSET studies, Philip made the leap into the wine trade in London during the 1990's. He worked for an up-market wine and spirits retailer in central London for five years prior to returning to Australia. Winner of Negociants Working With Wine Fellowship in 2016, Philip has travelled extensively throughout the wine world.
